Rauf takes note of jirgas
KARACHI (APP), July 14 2006: Sindh Home Minister, Rauf Siddiqui, expressed his indignation over reports about holding of illegal jirgas at various places in Sindh and giving their whimsical decisions.
Taking strict notice of such reports, the Home Minister directed the IG Police to take immediate action in such matters. Siddiqi said that despite his “tiers to all TPOs in Sindh to deal with such matters strictly, still it has come to his knowledge that 53 jirgas were held during the last six months. The decisions taken in these Jirgas included a decision whereby a two and a half year girl child was handed over an old man besides handing
over nine girl children as penalty in lieu of buffalos. Issuing written orders to IG Sindh, the Home Minister said immediate legal action be taken in these cases and he be informed about complete details.
