Rape on the rampage
Sir: Sexual violence is not coming to an end in this part of the world. After the horrendous Delhi rape case where the victim was raped and then beaten mercilessly on a bus a few months ago to more cases being reported in India and Pakistan, there seems to be little reprieve for women and young girls. Infant girls as young as three are reported as being rape victims in both countries — sometimes these rapes are so brutal that they cannot be described in words. The attitude with which women are viewed and discussed in the subcontinent in shameful and I hope that the increasing trend in these violent crimes comes to an end with harsh punishments meted out and justice served.
