Ramzan transmission, a mockery

Pakistan Press Foundation

Sir: Ramzan transmission seems like a money making activity these days on every television channel. Every guest there has an intense desire to get gifts from anchors, not for gaining knowledge of Islam.
People sitting there do not even have the basic knowledge of Islam, but the remarkable thing is that the anchor feels no qualms in stoking their material desires during this month devoted to our spirituality.

The most notable thing in yesterday’s most viewed programme was the anchor inviting singer Tahir Shah and asking him to sing songs in Ramzan and humiliating him. Regardless of how his song was received by the public at large, it is in really poor taste to make fun of him like this and hurt the man’s self-respect. Such acts should be highly discouraged.
