Rallies against blasphemous caricatures

HYDERABAD: Protest rallies were taken out and demonstrations staged here on Friday against the blasphemous caricatures of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), as protesters called for severing diplomatic ties with Denmark and boycotting its products.

A massive protest rally was taken out from Paretabad to the Market Tower, led by Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan chief Allama Shah Anas Noorani, Sahibzada Abulkhair Muhammad Zubair and others.

Participants of the rally chanted slogans against Denmark and the Danish newspapers for publishing the blasphemous caricatures and called for severing diplomatic ties with Denmark.

On the occasion, the JUP leaders vowed to continue protest in this respect till an apology is tendered and punishment awarded to those responsible for the act.

They said Muslims were ready to sacrifice their lives but would not allow such heinous crime of blasphemy.

Meanwhile, activists of the Jamiat Ulema Islam, including students of religious seminaries, staged a demonstration outside the press club.

Qari Kamran, Taj Muhammad Nahion and others led the demonstration. The protestors set ablaze the flag of Denmark to register their protest.

Some demonstrations were also staged on the call of the Jamaat-e-Islami in front of local mosques on Friday.

NAWABSHAH: Hundreds of citizens on Friday took out protest rallies against the publication of blasphemous cartoons in Danish newspapers. The protesters burned the Danish flag.

The first rally was taken out by the students of the Quaid-e-Awam University of Engineering Sciences and Technology. Student leaders Abdul Rehman, Abdul Wahab, Muhammad Mohsin, Sami Brohi and Sultan addressed the demonstrators.

The second rally was taken out by MMA members after the Friday congregation. They staged protest in front of the Allah Wali Mosque where Maulana Hizbullah, Ghulam Hyder Bhatti and others addressed the protestors.

Another rally participated by hundreds of students was taken out in Daur town from the Jamia Masjid.
