Quetta police book journalists, publishers over statements of banned outfits

QUETTA:Quetta police on Friday booked the daily Jang, Mashriq, Intikhab and Century Express for printing statements of banned outfits.

According to details, DSP Ameer Muhammad Dasti and his guard Aftab were killed by unidentified assailants on the Barori Road on April 8. The responsibility for the killing was claimed by Ghazi Haq Nawaz, spokesperson for the Jaish-e-Islam, and Baloch Waja Liberation Army. The statements of the outfits, regarding claiming the responsibility, were printed on April 9in the abovementioned newspapers.

On Friday, on the report of SHO of Quetta City Police Station, Mohibullah Daudi, FIR was registered against the publishers, editors and reporters of the daily Jang, Mashriq, Intikhab and Century Express, under sections 186, 109, 506, 504 and 34 of the Anti-Terrorism Act. However, nobody was arrested till the filing of this report.
