Punjab govt orders security for cable operators
LAHORE: The Punjab government has directed police and provincial administration to provide complete security to cable operators and take strict measures against the elements harassing hawkers and people selling newspapers.
In a statement, the provincial government spokesman, Senator Pervaiz Rasheed, said the Pakistan Muslim League-N believed in complete media freedom which was necessary for democracy in Pakistan. He also condemned the use of fascist elements against the media from some circles and stated that any one intending to create hurdle in the way of media, cable operators, and newspaper sellers would be dealt sternly.
