Punjab Bar Council executive body suspends licences of eight lawyers

Punjab Bar Council’s executive committee on Saturday suspended licenses of eight lawyers on charges of ransacking the Bar office and misbehaving the executive committee’s chairman. The lawyers whose licenses were suspended included Humera Bashir, Afaq Ahmed, Irshad Baig, Abdul Majeed Dogar, Hafiz Tariq, Shakeela Rana, Imrana Parveen Baloch and Shahid Nadeem Shaukat.

A press release issued by the Punjab Bar Council (PBC) said that executive committee chairman Rana Muhammad Asif Saeed was present in committee room along with other members of the committee for holding a meeting. Suddenly, some lawyers and 15 private persons entered the room and started throwing articles lying in the office upon the chairman and other members. The ‘attackers’ also abused the PBC representatives.

According to details a bar member Humera had filed a complaint against Advocate Arif of Burewala on charges of slapping her. However, on Saturday the committee restored his license which provoked the other party. Imrana Parveen Baloch, vice president of Supreme Court Bar Association, also announced that she will file an application with police for registration of a case against the PBC leadership.
