PTV Foundation and RG Communications sign MoU

ISLAMABAD, June 12 2005: Information and Broadcasting Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on June 10 said the media grew rapidly during the last two years.

On the occasion of signing of memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Pakistan Television Foundation and R.G. Communications for Direct to Home (DTH) service, Rashid said, the government has been toeing a media-friendly policy. This was open from the fact that 37 channels have been issued licences.

The R.G. Communications would spend Rs 150 million for the execution of the project for starting its service by the end of this year.

At the initial stage, a bouquet of 50 channels would be presented through DTH, while this would be enhanced to 300 channels.

PTV Foundation Managing Director Akhtar Waqar Azeem and R.G. Communications Chairman Zafar Kiyani signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organisations. Information Secretary Shahid Rafi and R.G. Communications Director Mark Booth were also present on the occasion.
