PTV-3 faces financial losses

ISLAMABAD:Pakistan Television Channel 3 has run into difficulties because of bad management and marketing, sources told Daily Times on Monday.

Sources said poor quality programming and non-payment of programme fees to artists for PTV Channel 3 programmes had ensured heavy lossesd They said that for the last four months, any artist who appeared in any programme of the
channel was not paid. A few artists were paid, but they could not cash their cheques.

PTV Channel 3 was losing millions of rupees and it is trying to find sponsors for its programmes, sources said. “Artists from Karachi and Lahore who come to perform in the programmes ate hired solely to keep the channel alive,” a TV artist associated with Channel 3 said. He said it was still a nons-tarter transmission. There is no formal format of the channel. He added that once
a programme was aired, it had no value to be televised again. Replying to a question, he said the forceful closure of STN channel by Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) officials was an attempt to gain huge financial benefits.

“This action deprived millions of viewers from having
quality entertainment. And now, the after effects of that decision have come in the shape of
financial losses to PTV Channel 3,” he concluded.
