PTV’s credibility to be restored: Yousaf Baig

ISLAMABAD: Top priority will be accorded to restore the credibility of Pakistan Television Corporation and improve the quality of all programmes to achieve excellence within the ambit of decency and morality, said Managing Director PTV Yousaf Baig Mirza on Thursday.

Talking to media-persons here at PTV Headquarter, the newly-appointed MD PTV unfolded the distinctive features of his future strategy.

He said that Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani and Federal Minister for Information Qamar Zaman Kaira had given him the clear mandate to restore the credibility of the pioneer PTV channel. He said he had accepted the new assignment as a challenge and would take all possible measures to introduce better business management, techniques and modern marketing trends to overcome the financial loss.

He said that the quality of drama serials, current affairs programmes, entertainment programmes, especially PTV News bulletins would be improved at all cost.

Baig said he would soon given new direction and better vision to PTV in line with modern requirement to provide better entertainment to viewers. He said he would visit all PTV centres to personally identify the problems, hindering better performance.

The talented artists and fairly competent professionals including PTV producers would be encouraged to produce better programmes, he added.

He said he had urged all the producers and staff to work with dedication as all available resources would be placed at their disposal for quality production. He said that producers showing better outputs in terms of popular programmes would be rewarded. He said feedback of all PTV programmes would be reviewed on quarterly basis.
