Sir: Every government talks about the prevailing poverty situation. What nobody talks about is the poverty afflicting PTV.
According to recent directives, the management of PTV has told all broadcasting stations in the NWFP to close down their telecast service during load-shedding hours, because the PTV headquarters has no funds for its standby power generators.
A majority of people in the NWFP are deprived of access to the latest news reports and other programmes because they do not have cable or dish antennae facilities. PTV serves as a source of news for them. I would like to request Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Qamar Zaman Kaira to kindly look into this matter.
