Protest demo against illegal closure of Geo News
HYDERABAD: Journalists, representatives of religious and political parties, and members of civil society staged a protest demonstration against the illegal closure of Geo News for the past four months.
Addressing the demonstration, Pakistan People’s Party leader Zahid Bhurgari regretted that Geo continues to remain shut even after serving the punishment awarded to it by Pakistan Electronic Media Regulation Authority (PEMRA).
Leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, Taaj Muhammad Nahyoon said the government has so far failed to get Geo’s channels restored on cable.
Pakistan Muslim League-N leader Hanif Siddiqui said it is highly regrettable that Geo’s transmission is still blocked.
Sindh Tarraqi Pasand Party, leader Abdul Fatah Samejo called upon the judiciary to take notice of the illegal closure of Geo.
Secretary Hyderabad Press Club, Mansoor Marri said the journalist community stands with Geo TV Network.
President Hyderabad Union of Journalists, Hamid Shaikh said the employees of Geo are facing hardships due to the closure of its channels.
