Produce rape victim or face action, SHO told

SUKKUR, March 26: Taking notice of failure of the Wasti Jeewan Shah SHO to present a woman who was criminally assaulted, Sukkur bench of Sindh High Court issued final directive to the police official to present her before the court on March 31 ‘in any case’ or the court will initiate contempt proceedings.

Brother of the victim woman, Ali Hassan Gorgej, in his petition, had maintained that five persons had assaulted her but police arrested only four of them while the fifth one was at large.

According to Mr Gorgej, his sister was not being allowed by her husband to appear before the court as such he prayed the court for arrest of both of them.

Shafqat Shah Masoomi advocate represented the petitioner.

Meanwhile, the SHC bench on Tuesday ordered the medical examination of a girl at the Civil Hospital Sukkur to determine her alleged molestation and also sought a report by Thursday (today).

The order was issued on her petition moved through Shafqat Shah Masoomi advocate.

In her petition, she had maintained that on May 7, accused Hameed Pathan, Nadeem Pathan, Saqib and Rafiullah, broke into her home and kidnapped her. She said she was taken to Karachi where she was criminally assaulted by them for over six months.

She, however, managed to escape and lodged an FIR at Abad Police Station under Hadood Ordinance. She pointed that the investigation police had disposed the case in B-Class instead of arresting the accused.
