Prime Minister for implementation of Supreme Court orders in letter and spirit

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf on Saturday directed Balochistan Chief Secretary Babur Yaqoob Fateh Muhammad to implement the orders of Supreme Court in letter and spirit and extend all possible assistance to the court.

He said this in a detailed meeting held with Muhammad at the Prime Minister’s House to discuss current issues, especially the law and order situation prevailing in the province.

Raja had summoned the Balochistan chief secretary to apprise him about the details of the proceedings of Supreme Court, which was hearing a petition regarding missing persons in Balochistan.

Reiterating the resolve of the federal government to leave no stone unturned in locating the missing persons, the prime minister directed all federal and provincial authorities concerned to extend every possible assistance to the Supreme Court and provide it with all the information and assistance it required.

During the meeting, the recent policy for postings of police and District Management Group (DMG) officers to Balochistan was also discussed.Raja directed Establishment Secretary Taimur Azmat Osman, who was also present during the meeting, to ensure implementation of the recently announced policy on postings of officers to Balochistan in its essence.

The chief secretary raised the issue of shortage of officers in the province. Raja directed Osman to post police and DMG officers in line with the policy framed by the government and meet all the requirements of the province, so that all vacant positions were filled without any delay.

Raja said officers who would be posted in Balochistan would not only be given additional financial benefits but also permitted to retain their present official residence.Raja said that Balochistan was one of his top most priorities, adding that he would soon visit the province and review the situation on ground. He expressed hope that the measures being taken by the government would lead to improvement of the situation in the province.
