Press clubs urged to increase security

Hyderabad: Like other organization, the press clubs should increase their security and the civil defence department is ready to provide them necessary training, said deputy controller Civil Defence Department Hyderabad here on Thursday.

He was speaking at a safety and security workshop for media organized by Pakistan Press Foundation (PPF) at the Hyderabad Press Club (HPC). On the occasion, the journalists were given training of first-aid.

A trainer, Imtiaz Ali Memon said with the skill of first-aid the journalists could not only save their own lives in emergency situations but also can help others. He said the media people should give top priority to their own safety and security while covering the assignments where there are chances of violence and physical danger.

Dr Idress spoke on how to cope with depression. He said it is necessary that the journalists work in a depression-free environment. On the occasion he trained the journalists on methods to deal with depression.

PPF coordinator Naseem Shaikh, Musawwir Shahid. Arsalan Arain, president HPC Aftab Koti and other media persons were present.
