President promulgates Nadra Ordinance

ISLAMABAD (September 18 2007): President General Pervez Musharraf has promulgated National Database and Registration Authority (Second Amendment) Ordinance, 2007. Following is the text of the ordinance: “Ordinance No XLVII of 2007. Further to amend the National Database and Registration Authority Ordinance. 2000.

WHEREAS it is expedient further to amend the National Database and Registration Authority Ordinance, 2000 (VIII of 2000), for the purposes hereinafter appearing; AND WHEREAS the National Assembly is not in session and the President is satisfied that circumstances exist which render it necessary to take immediate action; NOW, THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers conferred by clause (1) of Article 89 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the President is pleased to make and promulgate the following Ordinance:

1. Short title and commencement, (i) This Ordinance may be called the National Database and Registration Authority (Second Amendment) Ordinance, 2007, (ii) It shall come into force at once.

2. Amendment of section 30, Ordinance VIII of 2000. (i) In the National Database and Registration Authority Ordinance, 2000 (VIII of 2000) hereinafter referred to as the said Ordinance, in section 30, in sub-section (2), for the words “one year” the words “ten years” shall be substituted.

3. Amendment in section 31, Ordinance VIII of 2000. In the said Ordinance, in section 31, the word “gazetted” shall be omitted.”
