PPP wants to take along all state organs

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf has said that all the state institutions are vital and the PPP gives them due respect and wants to take them along.

He said that the PPP did not believe in opposition for the sake of opposition as it did not consider political or principled differences as animosity. Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf expressed these views while addressing the distinguished people from Gujar Khan at an Iftar dinner at the PM House on Saturday.

He said, “The PPP believes in serving the masses and sincerely desires to help the common man benefit from the fruits of democracy.” He said that the socio-economic development of the country and uplift and welfare of the people particularly from the backward and far-flung areas was the common objective of all the political parties including those in the opposition.

The prime minister said that the government would ensure holding of free, fair and transparent elections in the country, which is the only way to strengthen the democracy. The PPP and its allies would again emerge victorious in the next general elections with the support of the masses, he said and added that the PPP in consultation with all the political parties had laid the foundation of a good future as the appointment of consensus Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) was a prudent step and nobody could raise a finger at it.

Prime Minister Ashraf thanked the PPP leadership and allied parties for nominating him for the slot of premiership and assured that the PPP would continue to take along its allies. He said that it was the beauty of democracy that a worker like him had become the prime minister.

The PPP workers always confronted the dictators and stood by the party through thick and thin, he said and added that the people of Gujar Khan had always exhibited confidence in him and took him to the post of premiership. Prime Minister Ashraf said the present government was striving for creating such an environment in the country where the people could elect the leaders of their own choice. He said that the PPP resolved the issue of the appointment of Chief Election Commissioner in such a manner that even the adversaries could not object to it.

Prime Minister Raja announced the establishment of an IT University in Gujar Khan, which would benefit the students from Potohar region, Azad Kashmir and adjoining areas. He directed the authorities concerned to take practical steps towards this end.

The prime minister assured the notables from Gujar Khan that he would serve as premier with respect and dignity and he would exploit all his energies for the betterment of the country without any discrimination.

The people of Gujar Khan thanked Prime Minister Raja for the announcement of IT University and expressed their confidence in the sagacity of his leadership. They were of the view that Raja Ashraf had always kept the people on his side and served them with sincerity.
