PPP establishes social media wing in Lahore
LAHORE: Pakistan People’s Party Punjab has set up a full-fledged social media wing in its Model Town Secretariat, with Madam Jahan Ara as its head.
It was decided at a meeting, which was chaired by PPP Punjab President Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo.
The social media wing will be part of the media setup of the PPP Punjab that will function on a regular basis with trained and experienced staff members.
While underscoring the importance of social media, Wattoo observed that the use of latest information technology had become the most effective tool to communicate with the people at all levels with quality and at a click.
He said that information technology had brought revolution in the world and the resultant connectivity was rendering great help, enabling the people to formulate knowledge-based opinion before taking a decision to join a particular organisation.
He said that it was due to its indispensability that all the political parties’ use of information technology had become absolutely critical due to its authenticity and efficiency.
He said that with the setting up of the social media wing in the PPP Punjab Secretariat, the activities of the party and its stance on various issues of regional and national importance would be projected in an effective manner.
He further said that he also planned to activate social media set-up at the divisional and district levels, with a view to considerably improve the communication between the regional PPP organisations and the provincial PPP.
He observed that such an establishment would also help establish means of communication with the local media in the interest of the political process by educating the people about the issues of their relevance.
