Poor attendance at Iqbal Day function

LAHORE — Pakistan Tehreek Insaf Chairman Imran Khan has said we can put the country on the track of prosperity by only following the thoughts of Allama Iqbal. Addressing a ceremony held in connection with the Iqbal Day at Aiwan-e-Iqbal on Thursday, he said that any coward person could not become a leader of the nation.

The ceremony remained less attended and every speaker who ended his speech, left the hall and his supporters also left the hall with him. The situation reflected that the audience was only there to chant slogans in favour of their respective leaders and not to listen about Allama Iqbal.
Among the other speakers included PML-Q leader, Humayun Akhtar, Sunni Tehreek leader Shahid Ghauri, columnist Atta-ul-Haq Qasmi, Nusrat Mirza and Sajjad Mir.

Though the management had also invited former Law Minister Babar Awan, former Opposition leader in Punjab Assembly and PML-Q leader Ch Zaheer-ud-Din and MQM leader Farooq Sattar but they could not attended the ceremony due to unknown reasons.

Imran said that out leaders always project their personal thought rather than national interest. “Our leaders have two weak points like fear and projection of their selves.” He said Quaid-e-Azam was a sincere and great leader and had no assets at the time of his death. He said that we would have to follow the dreams of Allama Iqbal if we want to make our country developed one. He asked the young generation to come forward for the promotion of Iqbal thought in the country.

Hamayun Akhtar said that not only our leaders were helpless to stop drone attacks but our masses were also helpless as they also never came on roads to protest against these attacks. He asked the masses to come on roads and held the ruler accountable.

Professor Akram Shah, Nusrta Mirza, Sjjad Mir and others also spoke on the occasion.
