Policemen rape three women

LAHORE, November 11 2005: Three women were raped by police officials in various parts of the city. Cases have been registered against the officials and investigations are underway.

Shazia, a resident of 3-A2 Township, submitted a complaint at the Township police station that she was going somewhere when Township police station Head Constable Rehmat and Constable Abid intercepted and abducted her on a motorcycle at gunpoint. She said they took her to their friend Nazir’s house and all three men raped her at gunpoint. Later, the culprits threw her in front of her house in an unconscious condition and fled, she added. Township police have registered a case (number 612/2005) and started investigations.

Maqbool Bibi, a resident of Garhi Shahu, filed a complaint with the Wahdat Colony police station that she and her sister-in-law Kalsoom were in a rickshaw which broke down in Wahdat Colony police precincts. While the rickshaw driver was trying to rectify the problem, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Muhammad Javed, who was in uniform, and his friend Qamar Abbas arrived and asked what was wrong, she said. She said the rickshaw started after a few minutes and the officials sat with them in the rickshaw, ordering the driver to go to Alhamd Colony. She said Javed and Abbas took them into a house and raped them at gunpoint. Later, the culprits kicked them out of the house, locked it from the outside and fled, she added. Wahdat Colony police registered a case (number 514/2005) against the suspects and started investigating.
