QUETTA: Another policeman allegedly involved in the gang-rape of a woman technician of Washak district hospital was arrested on Thursday.

Four policemen barged into the residential quarter of the lady health technician on Wednesday and subjected her to gang-rape.

Washak police raided a place in Basima area of Washak district on Thursday and arrested the third policeman identified as Abdul Basit while raids were being made for the fourth policeman Abdul Latif.

Police produced policemen Jamil and Nawaz before the court of judicial magistrate Kharan, who remanded both the accused to police custody for 8 days. “We are making allout efforts for the arrest of the fourth accused,” Abdul Fateh Baloch, the SHO of Washak, said, adding that police personnel involved in the gang-rape would be brought to justice.

Official sources said that Balochistan’s Inspector General of Police has taken a serious notice of the involvement of police personnel in the tragic incident and suspended all four policemen involved in the gang-rape.

The IGP has also constituted a three-member investigation committee headed by DSP Washak Gul Sher Baloch, directing it to submit the inquiry report as soon as possible.

However, District Health Officer Abdul Samad Mohammad Hasni was not satisfied with the investigation of the incident and demanded that a senior police officer should be deputed for the investigation of the tragic incident.
