Police submit final charge-sheet in gang-rape case

Police submitted final charge-sheet in the gang-rape case at Quaid’s mausoleum in the court of District and Sessions Judge (East) Zakir Hussain on Wednesday. The court also ordered the police to produce the accused on the next date of hearing on May 20.

Accountant Raja Arif and Assistant to Resident Engineer Arif Ansari of Quaid-e-Azam Management Board were arrested following the receipt of DNA report, which confirmed their involvement in the case.

An 18-year-old woman was subjected to gang-rape after being kidnapped inside the premises of the Quaid’s mausoleum on the night of March 15.

She was found in a precarious condition at the gate of the mausoleum in the early hours of March 17.

Earlier, the police had arrested an assistant security manager Khadim Hussain posted at the mausoleum on March 20 following positive identification by the victim woman in the court. Later, a DNA report confirmed his involvement in the case.

The police registered a case under Section 365/B inserted into the Pakistan Penal Code through the Protection of Women Act-2006.
