Police post blown up in Battagram

BISHAM: Explosive devices planted beside a police post in Changal area of Battagram district went off Monday. No casualty was, however, reported.

Security forces arrived at the Puran bazaar of Shangla district and continued patrolling all the daylong and finally extended its patrol to other parts of the district including Dherai, Twa, Tangi, Sandvi and Aloch and set up checkpoints in the area.

Expressing satisfaction over arrival of the security forces, people hoped that peace would be restored to the area. Locals said the militants left the area before the arrival of the security forces in the town.

Eyewitnesses said the militants riding in three pickups came to the bazaar and bought gas cylinder, fertilizers, wires and other items which might be used in making explosive materials and left hurriedly towards an undisclosed location.

Meanwhile, Maulana Waliullah Kabalgrami, chief of his own seminary where more than 1,000 students were enrolled, left the area and shifted to Battagram along with his students.
