PML-N dissolves its NWFP women wing Sabir Shah vows to launch mass contact movement against govt

Syed Bukhar Shah

PESHAWAR: The provincial council meeting of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), NWFP chapter, Wednesday decided to launch a mass contact movement to protest against what it called “the government’s failure to resolve the problems being faced by common people”.

The meeting, chaired by PML-N Provincial President Pir Sabir Shah, also dissolved the party’s women wing, creating another controversy as the provincial leaders of women wing vowed to resist the decision with tooth and nail.

Briefing newsmen regarding details of the council’s meeting, Pir Sabir Shah observed the PPP-led government had failed to overcome problems of the people. He said the mass contact movement would be launched to rid the people of their miseries.

Expressing concern over the deteriorating law and order and economic situation in the country, he claimed the incumbent rulers had failed to take any practical step for the welfare and prosperity of the nation.

Sabir Shah said the date for launching mass contact movement would be announced soon and they had already directed the party’s district organisations to make preparations for the same. He said the people were looking towards his party as its leadership had the capabilities to pull the country out of crises. He said his party would not disappoint the nation and come up to their expectations.

To a question regarding the contacts with PML-Q’s like minded group, the PML-N provincial leader said the product of dictatorship was nearing its logical conclusion as it would not be able to play any role in the country’s politics.

Sabir Shah also announced to dissolve the party’s women wing in NWFP. He said only sincere workers would be allowed to return in the party’s fold. He termed summoning of former president Pervez Musharaf to Supreme Court of Pakistan a historical decision.

Provincial General Secretary of PML-N women wing Shazia Aurangzeb termed the dissolution of the wing a conspiracy against the party, which she said would not be allowed at any cost. She said she had already apprised the central leadership, including Mian Nawaz Sharif, Shahbaz Sharif, Raja Zafarul Haq and Iqbal Zafar Jhagra.

The dissolution of women wing, she said, would weaken the party and her removal from the office was violation of the directives from the central leadership.

Shazia reminded the only crime of women wing was that it had been demanding appointment of Kulsoom Nawaz Sharif as their central president and vowed to repeat the same mistake by 100 times if this was her mistake.

It, she said, was astonishing to note that her party’s provincial president did not know that she had been serving as general secretary for the last four years.

The entire world and party, she said, had witnessed that they were reorganising and activating the women in the province. Her party’s activists, she said, had been actively participating in protest demonstrations against the military dictator.
