Plea against Facebook adjourned
LAHORE — The Lahore High Court Chief Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry Friday adjourned hearing of various petitions against the ‘Facebook’ website which in August last had announced to hold a competition on the caricatures of Holy Prophet (SAW) in the name of freedom of expression.
To a strong reaction by the Muslims all over the world, and a complete ban on the ‘Facebook’ in Pakistan and other Muslim states, the competition was cancelled.
The petitioners Muhammad Azhar Siddique and others now seek a direction to the Federal Government to move the United Nations for a universal legislation against taking any initiative towards defaming or profaning any prophet of Allah Almighty by any means.
