PID can’t deduct dues from ad bills: APNS
ISLAMABAD — “The APNS has clarified the impression given by the statement of Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, Minister for Information, made in a Press briefing on July 17 on the cabinet meeting held to discuss the issue of 7th Wage Board Award.
The APNS spokesman stated that during the cabinet committee meeting the issue of outstanding salaries of journalists of some newspapers was never deliberated, as this issue does not come under the terms of reference of the committee. Further the PID has no authority to deduct any dues against newspapers from the bills of advertisements with the implementation of Wage Board.
The APNS further clarified that the cabinet committee meeting has formed a six-member committee under Mr. Shaukat Azia comprising two members from APNS, Mr. Hameed Haroon and Mr. Muhammad Aslam Kazi, two ministers namely Mr. Shuakat Aziz and Sheikh Rashid Ahmed and two members representing the newspaper employees. The APNS has stated that nay arbitrary change in the composition of the sub committee will not be acceptable to the APNS.
