PFUJ Special Committee Meeting on July 23, 2012
Committee to meet regularly from July 30
Following the financial scam involving anchors, a special committee was constituted on the directives of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) President Pervaiz Shaukat, headed by Secretary General Amin Yousaf and comprising APNEC Chairman Nasir Naqvi and senior journalist Nasir Zaidi.
In this regard, the committee held its second meeting in Islamabad on July 23, 2012, presided by PFUJ President Pervaiz Shaukat. All members of the committee comprising Secretary General Amin Yousaf, APNEC Chairman Nasir Naqvi and senior journalist Nasir Zaidi were in attendance.
The meeting decided that the committee would meet regularly from July 30, 2012 in Islamabad and come up with its findings within 15 days.
It decided to send reminders to all anchors concerned, asking them to appear before the committee and present their points of view.
Reminders would also be sent to State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) governor, all bank presidents, Malik Riaz of Bahria Town and Director-General Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to provide details and evidence pertaining to the case.
PFUJ will acquire services of former Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) president Asma Jehangir and senior lawyer Barrister Salman Akram Raja who will provide legal advice to the PFUJ in the case.
