PFUJ demands immediate release of kidnapped journalist of Shikarpur

Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists has strongly condemned the kidnapping incident of a Journalist Asghar Ali Thaheem from his way to home from District Larkana of Sindh and demanded his recovery within in 48 hours.

Asghar Ali Thaheem is a resident of Dakhan Village of District Shikarpur and was on his way to home on November 07 after shifting his father in law in the district hospital. He is associated with a daily Sindh Express as Reporter.

According to a press release issued here on Tuesday, PFUJ President Rana Muhammad Azeem and Secretary General Amin Yousuf has expressed grief over the incident and demanded from Sindh Police the immediate release of Asghar Ali Thaheem.

In response of a letter written by Sakhar Union of Journalists to the PFUJ for its role in the safe recovery of the journalist, the PFUJ office bearers have assured the SUJ that it will take up the matter with Inspector General of Sindh Police, provincial authorities as well as before the federal government. The SKU, in its letter, says that earlier PFUJ had played its effective role in the recovery of a journalist Niaz Chandio and his cousin Abdul Khaliq Chandio who were kidnapped by the local gangs.

PFUJ President Rana Azeem and Secretary General Amin Yousuf say that they will the PFUJ president and secretary general have also demanded from the provincial and federal government to protect the lives of the journalists who are performing their professional duties in the interior Sindh and often harassed through various unlawful ways by the landlords and criminals of the area.
