PFUJ demands arrest of journalist’s killer

The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ), has strongly condemned the murder of a journalist working for the Weekly, Akbar-e-Jehan, Chisti Mujhaid, in broad daylight in Quetta on Saturday morning, and demanded immediate arrest of the killer.

According to details collected from Quetta, Mujahid was killed as he came from his residence by an unidentified assailant, who was waiting for him in ambush. He was hit by two bullets and died on the spot.

“We strongly condemn the murder of another journalist, the first one in 2008, following the murder of six journalists last year,” PFUJ said in a statement. It is a target killing and police and authorities must find out the motive behind the killing and arrest the killer, said the Secretary, Karachi Press Club, Imtiaz Khan Faran. “In the past, the government has failed to arrest the killers of journalists and we have little hope that justice will be done in this case too but we will not remain silent,” the PFUJ said.
