PFUJ condoles Wajid’s death

LAHORE, May 5: The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) has condoled the death of Wali Muhammad Wajid, a former office-bearer of the PFUJ and an active trade union leader.

In a statement issued here on May 5, 2003, PFUJ president I. H. Raashed said the late Wali Muhammad Wajid was a pioneer leader of journalists in Multan where he struggled for their cause as a president of the PPL Workers Union, Multan, and assistant secretary general of the PFUJ.

He said Wajid Sahib had worked hard in the journalists’ struggle for freedom of the press in 1978 during the martial law regime of the Gen Ziaul Haq. He was imprisoned along with other journalists.
