ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan on Sunday allowed the people having expired Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs) to cast their votes in the upcoming election.

The country is all set to hold its general election on May 11 and it will be the first democratic transition of power in the history of the country.

The ECP has taken some revolutionary steps to attract the people towards casting their votes and to ensure free and fair election. Shahid Afridi, a prominent cricketer who has a huge following, has also recorded a message for the ECP to boost the election campaign. On Sunday, the commission said that those whose CNICs had expired were also eligible to cast their votes.
