Pemra issues six FM radio licences

ISLAMABAD – Issuing six new FM licences, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Syed Sumsam Au BukhariThurs-day said that it would help achieve democratic government’s aim of expanding healthy media network across the country.

Syed Sumsam Mi Bukhari was ~addressing a ceremony held here at Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatbry Authority (Pemra) headquarters to award six new FM radio licenses for different cities. The Minister said that with the award of these licenses, the number of licensed FM radio channels in Pakistan would reach 128.

The FM radio licenses have been issued for Bahawalpur, Ka~ur, Tando Muhammad Khan, Kashmore, Umerkot and Mastung cities. Bukhari said Pemra was constantly striving to adopt latest media technologies in Paid-stanthatwould not only offer wide variety and choice to listeners but also help in social reforms.
