Pemra bans foreign bulletins on radio stations

Islamabad: On the directive of the federal government, the Pakistan Electronics Regulatory Authority (Pemra), has issued a notification to all private radio stations not to air foreign Urdu service without prior permission, sources told The News.
Chairman, Pemra, Malik Mushtaq, has said the Authority also issued show cause notices to radio stations to immediately halt foreign bulletins or stern action will be taken against the violators. Sources disclosed that over 30 radio stations aired foreign news bulletins for five minutes after each hour via satellite against millions of rupees.
