Pemra Bans channel
LAHORE, Dec 12: the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) on Friday banned “al-Islam” channel after its failure to get a license for transmission.
The authority has maintained that the channel is violating rules of the authority by airing transmission without a lawful authority.
It must get a license like the other channels.On the other hand, the management of the channel maintained that it is not running the channel on a commercial basis and not making any money out of it.
The transmission are purely religious and should not be subjected to commercial regulations, which cost Rs20 million a year, license fee and unlinking charges.
