Pearl believed to be in Karachi
ISLAMABAD- Kidnapped US journalist Daniel Pearl is believed to be in Karachi, or its surroundings, and a new investigation team has been constituted to find him, sources said. The team is headed by Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Crime Investigation Department (CID) Mir Zubair Mahmood, who has just returned from the US after acquiring comprehensive training in counter-terrorism and crisis management. Police is also working on the theory that kidnappers may have moved him to tribal hideouts in Sindh or areas close to Balochistan as Karachi has become unsafe for them. A member of the special team said earlier: “I can say one thing with confidence that the new team has made significant progress on this case and we have got the clues about the kidnappers.”
