PBA condemns attack on Khyber News staff

KARACHI: The Pakistan Broadcasters Association has strongly condemned the wanton act of violence against the staff members of a private channel, the Khyber News.

The PBA Board of Directors meting, held on August 26, was informed that the dastardly attack had come after a series of threats hurled at the channel.

PBA said the uncalled-for act negated all forms of civilised methods of protest and tantamount to a serious attempt to stifle and strangulate the freedom of speech, expression and the freedom of information of general public, at large.

The association expressed its solidarity with its member channel, the Khyber News, against the said act of violation, and demanded that both the federal government and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government should take immediate notice of the incident and called for strong action against the responsible persons.

It was also unanimously decided that a delegation, headed by the PBA chairman, would meet the KPK chief minster and register its strong protest with him in support of its fellow member, and would call for quick and appropriate redressal of this heinous act against media persons.
