Payment of advertisement dues to newspapers from July: Sharjeel
KARACHI: Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon has said that dues of advertisements would be paid to newspapers in the coming financial year starting from July.
He stated this while chairing a meeting of the All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) here on Saturday.
Sharjeel said that a committee would be formed that will look into the APNS dues, besides formulating the advertising policy.
On the occasion, APNS President Sarmad Ali informed the minister that they were facing problems in paying salaries to employees due to non-payment of dues owe to the government.
The provincial information minister listened to the problems being faced by the APNS members and assured that all the dues would be paid in July.
He said that the government believed in the freedom of expression.
Later, the APNS members thanked the minister for taking personal interest in solving their problems. Secretary Information Qazi Shahid Pervez, Director General Dr Zulfiqar Ali Shalwani, Director Press Information Akhter Ali Surhio, Director Advertisement Anita Baloch and others were also present during the meeting.
