Pasban calls for strike to protest blasphemous caricatures

Pasban Pakistan, a local NGO working against injustice and human rights violations, has given a call for observing a complete shutter-down strike on Friday against the publication of blasphemous caricatures by the Danish newspapers and appealed to the people from all walks of life to make the strike successful.

Addressing a press conference at the Karachi Press Club (KPC) on Tuesday, Pasban President, Altaf Shakor, said there were no political motives behind giving the strike call and it was only against the blasphemous act carried out by the Danish media.

“We are aware of the sentiments of the people of Pakistan and their love for Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) which is more than even their lives, children, parents and properties. We appeal to Ashiqan-e-Rasool to express their hatred against the flighty act of the Western media by remaining at home on March 7”, he added.

He appealed to the people to resort to peaceful protest by observing a strike on Friday and also put pressure on the government to sever ties with Denmark as well as the Netherlands.

On the occasion, transporters, traders, lawyers, goods carriers and people from other walks of life, including the ulema, doctors and lawyers announced to back the strike call.
