Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) decision to cut royalty lauded

KARACHI- The Internet Service Providers Association of Pakistan (ISPAK) has appreciated the decision of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) for reducing the royalty from four percent to 1.5 percent.

In a statement the President of Ispak, Sanaullah Bhutta said that the said decision would go a long way in spreading the Internet technology throughout the country.

He said that the Ispak’s demand for reduction of royalty from their gross revenue was pending for the last many months. It was mainly due to PTA chairman’s keen interest that the problem was solved, he added.

He also appreciated the role of the PTA in promoting the Internet services in the country. The PTA had taken a number of steps in the recent past to help Ispak to solve the issue of shortage of bandwidth, which would go long way in further promoting information technology in the country, added Bhutta.

Eulogizing the role of PTA, he said the authority has worked as a catalyst and has played a pivotal role for spreading the Internet in the country; otherwise this nascent industry would have finished in the past.
