Pakistan Telecommunication Authority chairman’s suspension case: Lahore High Court seeks reply from federal government till February 24

A division bench of Lahore High Court sought reply from the Federal government till February 24 in an Inter Court Appeal (ICA) of removed chairman Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Farooq Awan against his suspension by a single bench. A single bench of the LHC on December 31, 2012 had declared his appointment unlawful by setting aside the notification of his appointment.

The petitioner prayed to the court to set aside the single bench order and issue direction for his reinstatement as Chairman PTA. Applicant took the plea that he was appointed as chairman of the authority after the approval by the Prime Minister. He said there was nothing illegal in his appointment as all rules and regulations were also followed for his appointment. The petitioner a citizen Khawaja Saad Saleem submitted that Farooq Awan was appointed without adopting the legal process.
