Pakistan Press Foundation (PPF) in a letter to President of Mexico Enrique Pena Nieto expressed concern over the attack on Mexican daily newspaper El Criollo’s reporter Sala Garcia at his home in Tabasco state by two armed assailants on 10 February 2016.

PPF Secretary General Owais Aslam Ali in his letter to Mexico President urged the government to provide security and protection to the journalists particularly those receiving death threats and the arrest and prosecution of the members of armed gangs involved.

Garcia, who reported on crime, corruption and received death threats told the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), that two armed men hit him in head, legs and feet with pistol, saying they had orders to kill him. When his wife began to scream, assailant hit her and threatened to kill if she did not keep quiet.
