Pakistan Press Foundation condemns disappearance of SL journalist & cartoonist
Pakistan Press Foundation (PPF), an independent non-governmental institution committed to promoting and defending freedom of expression is concerned over disappearance of Sri Lankan journalist and cartoonist Prageeth Ekneligoda since last four years.
Quoting the information from International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), PPF Secretary General Owais Aslam Ali in a letter to the President of Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka said, Quote “four years to disappearance of Prageeth Ekneligoda have been completed on 24 January 2014. Ekneligoda, who was associated with Lanka-e-News.com as reporter and cartoonist, disappeared on January 24, 2010 when the presidential elections in Sri Lanka were scheduled to be held after two days. Ekneligoda is reported to have written several articles during the election campaign in favour of defeated candidate Sarath Fonseka”.

PPF urges the government to investigate the journalist’s disappearance case and take immediate steps to end the agony being faced by his family and ensure safety and security of journalists in Sri Lanka.
