The journalists were attending the inauguration of local mayor in the municipality of San Miguel Soyaltepec, Oaxaca, on the border with Veracruze, when they noticed that the police is trying to persuade the PUP supporters, who blocked the road, to leave the area. After briefly talking to former PUP candidate, Marco Antonio Gómez Torres present there, when journalists went close to the PUP supporters, they attacked them with stones, machetes and sticks. Eduardo and José de Jesús were the most severely injured, while Víctor and Antonio were also punched. They were also issued life threats by the PUP supporters”.
