Pakistan Press Foundation condemns assault on former reporter in Bosnia & Herzegovina

Pakistan Press Foundation (PPF), an independent non-governmental institution committed to promoting and defending freedom of expression is concerned over a reported physical assault on former war-crimes reporter, Sinan Alic in Bosnia & Herzegovina.

According to information received from International Press Institute (IPI), PPF Secretary General Owais Aslam Ali in a letter to the President of Bosnia & Herzegovina said, Quote “Sinan Alic, who is also an NGO activist, was attacked by an unidentified man on 28 January, 2014 near his home in Trakilovici, close to the town of Tuzla, after intercepting him and asking whether he was Sinan Alic. As a result, Alic suffered head injuries and was shifted to a hospital. According to Alic, who was active in reporting on war crimes in Bosnia and Herzegovina, he received threats by SMS in the recent months”.

PPF condemns attack on former journalist and calls on the government to hold an inquiry of the incident to punish the perpetrators.
