Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists to observe protest day on 27th of April
ISLAMABAD- The All Pakistan Newspaper Employees Confederation (APNEC) and the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalist (PFUJ) have decided to observe a protest day on April 27th against delay in the constitution of the seventh wage board. The decision was taken at a joint meeting of the APNEC, the PFUJ and the Rawalpindi Islamabad Union of Journalists (RIUJ), said a press release.
Through a countrywide protest on April 27th, the associations of working journalists and newspaper employees will highlight other issues, including non-implementation of the sixth wage award by a number of newspapers owners, retrenchment in some newspapers and non-payment of salaries.
The meeting expressed serious concern over uncalled for retrenchment of employees in a number of newspapers and demanded the government to implement labour laws in the newspaper industry.
