Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation to launch talent hunt for artistes

LAHORE- For the first time in the country’s history, Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) is introducing a talent hunt for talented music artistes from all over the country.

Station Director PBC Lahore, Khalid Asghar told this agency that the scheme has been initiated by the Director General PBC, Syed Anwar Mahmood.

In this connection he said, the first music competition will be held among the talent of Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Rawalpindi, and Bahawalpur comprising, three from each provincial headquarters will participate at a special function in Lahore on June 3.

He disclosed that three finalists out of 15 would be selected by a three-member jury which includes poet, music expert and former DG PBC, Saleem Gilani, well known singer Iqbal Bano and General Manager Pakistan Television, Azam Khursheed.

Khalid said the finalists ranking first, second and third would be awarded cash prize of Rs 10.000, Rs 5, 000 and Rs 3, 000 respectively.

The three selected artistes would later be pitted against each other and three finalists each from the other provinces, Sindh, Balochistan and NWFP at the final music concert to be held in Islamabad on June 24.
