Pak expert to attend UN human rights body meeting

ISLAMABAD: Ahmer Bilal Soofi, advocate Supreme Court is proceeding to Geneva to attend the session of Human Rights Council Advisory Committee, says a press release issued here on Thursday.

Soofi has been elected member of the Human Rights Council Advisory Committee for a period of 3 years. He is also made the Chairman of the working group of traditional values of human kind.

The Human Rights Advisory Committee comprises of 18 experts elected for a period of 3 years from various regions of the world and they constitute the Advisory Committee, which acts as a think tank to the Human Rights Council.

The experts of the Advisory Committee will be discussing several important agenda items, which include deliberation of right of people to peace, right to food, human rights and international solidarity and international cooperation in the field of human rights. The Committee will also examine follow up of reports made to the Human Rights Council on missing persons, human rights education and training.
