Outraged mob fires on TV Van and beat journalists

KARACHI, July 17 2006: Supporters of a slain religious leader sprayed bullets on the van of a local TV channel on July 15, 2006, in Karachi, the largest city of Pakistan. A day earlier two cameramen of beat two cameramen of another television channel.

Masked armed activists at the funeral procession of religious leader Allama Hasssan Turabi were firing in the air and four bullets of hit the van of GEO television. Many other journalists covering the procession also had to flee the area because of the firing.

On July 14, the day Mr. Turabi was killed by a suicide bomber, Adeel Khan and Qasim Khan, cameramen of ARY ONE television network were attacked by outraged mourners, who also tried to burn their motorcycles.
