NWFP PA for quick decision in Wage Award cases

PESHAWAR- The NWFP assembly unanimously passed a resolution asking the federal government to issue instructions to the Attorney General of Pakistan to request the Supreme Court to immediately complete the hearing of the Seventh Wage Board Award.

It demanded that the interests of the 600,000 newspapers industry workers should not be sacrificed for the interests of 2000 newspapers owners. In another resolution, the Assembly requested the Sindh government to direct the Advocate General Sindh to request the Sindh High Court to take a quick decision on the writ petition on the Seventh Wage Board Award and save the newspapers workers from economic difficulties and problems.

Bashir Ahmad Bilour, parliamentary leader of ANP, moved both the resolutions, when the Speaker relaxed rules with the consent of the House. The parliamentary leaders of all the parties including, PPP-P, PPP-S, PML (N), PTI, independents, Abdul Akbar Khan, Murid Kazim, Anwar kamal Khan, Shahzada Gustasib Khan, Mian Nisar Gul, and (PML-Q) MPA, Qazi Asad supported the resolutions with “yes” when the Speaker sought the approval of the House. Senior Minister Sirajul Haq said he fully supported it. Later the president and general secretary of the Khyber Union of Journalists (KhUJ), Sajjad Haider and Mohammad Ibrahim thanked the NWFP assembly for passing the resolutions.
