Now it’s women’s turn

BADIN: Women activists of the Pakistan Muslim League-N held demonstrations across Sindh on Tuesday in protest against the disqualification of Sharif brothers and imposition of governor’s rule in Punjab while their equals from the Pakistan People’s Party condemned the spoiling of Benazir Bhutto’s memorial in Rawalpindi.
In Badin, PML-N activists gathered on Shah Latif road and chanted slogans in favour of Sharif brothers and against President Zardari and “PCO judges.” They carried banners and placards inscribed with the slogans of “Long live Nawaz Sharif,” “Restore judiciary,” “PCO judges’ decision unacceptable” and “Governor rule unacceptable.”
Shahnaz Rahu and Benazir Jokhio criticised the disqualification verdict and termed it a political rather than a judicial decision. They said the overthrow of Punjab government was a serious blow to the democracy and a conspiracy to sabotage the system.
Benazir and Nawaz Sharif were the only two main political leaders but sadly Benazir had been assassinated and Nawaz striving to uphold democracy, they said adding that now he too, had been disqualified under conspiracy. They termed it an injustice not only to Nawaz Sharif but to the entire nation and criticised the rulers for leading the country towards anarchy.
No force had ever smashed women if ever they stood for a just cause, they said. Meanwhile, women workers of the PPP brought out a rally here to condemn the damage inflicted on the monument of Benazir Bhutto in Rawalpindi.
The rally started from the PPP office and after marching on main Quaid-e-Azam road reached the Shah Latif road. Participants raised slogans in favour of President Asif Ali Zardari and against the Sharif brothers.
In Dadu, the activists of PML-N ladies wing took out a rally in protest against the disqualification of Sharif brothers. Protestors were carrying placards and raised slogans against President Zardari under the lead of PML-N ladies wing Sindh President Soorath Thebo and district president Zahida Bhand.
Soorath Thebo said that the verdict of Supreme Court was announced on the directives of President Asif Ali Zardari against Sharif brothers. She criticised the governor rule in Punjab and said that dream of PPP to form government in Punjab will not come true as PML-N was in majority in the Punjab Assembly.
